Ring in the Year of the Horse during the annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 21 from noon to 4 p.m. at 2ND & PCH (6480 E. Pacific Coast Highway).
This free community festival will feature a range of cultural entertainment and family-friendly activities, as well as engaging displays from Sister Cities Long Beach. The Lunar New Year Celebration will aim to highlight Long Beach’s cultural diversity while welcoming in the Year of the Horse, which symbolizes strength, vitality, progress and freedom, according to 2ND & PCH.
The themed programming will include traditional lion and dragon dances, intended to represent good fortune, martial arts demonstrations that resemble a horse’s spirit and agility, horse zodiac calligraphy stations and children’s crafts featuring horse imagery.Â

The festivities will also include Japanese taiko drummers, Cambodian and Bollywood dancers, origami demonstration, and a make your own button and lego station. All outdoor events are weather permitting.
As part of the celebration, Sister Cities of Long Beach will showcase their global, youth-focused programming, which includes student exchanges, the Young Artists & Authors competition and the Digital Pen Pal Program.Â
Plus, the event will include Susan Redfield, Sister Cities of Long Beach President and Richer San, Board Chair of Sister Cities of Long Beach, as guest speakers.Â
