BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — All eyes are on the winter wallop headed for California during President’s Day week…
Computer data update after computer data update has continued to indicate a widespread and long-duration period of impactful weather over the coming days as a series of winter storm systems, all part of a deep and slow-moving atmospheric trough, will surge down the West Coast.
Periods of rain, ranging from light, to moderate and even heavy-at-time should add to the season’s already impressive totals. However, the biggest forecast challenge this go around continues to be in deciphering the exact timing and trajectory of each individual “storm” system as well as the actual path of a potential Arctic pipeline. These factors will play a huge role as far as local and regional impacts go. Among these impacts would be the snow level as it relates to our local mountain communities and routes through the mountains, including the major freeway passes that host a large volume of commuters.
It would be a very good idea to keep the possibility of moderate to potentially significant impacts across our area during the early to midweek period and consider contingency plans if your regular route, whether it be to school, work, leisure or anything in between would be affected.

Keep checking back in for the very latest! Meanwhile, I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.
