(FOX40.COM) — Officers with the Sacramento Police Department arrested a 26-year-old man after responding to reports of gunfire in the streets of Sacramento last month.

Sacramento police said officers were called out on Jan. 21 after multiple reports of someone walking in the roadway and firing a handgun. When officers arrived, they found the suspect and took him into custody without further incident.

Police had identified him as Juan Rodriguez of Sacramento.

After Rodriguez was placed under arrest, investigators continued to look around and recovered a 0.45-caliber pistol equipped with a high-capacity magazine, along with evidence from several locations where the gun was fired, SPD said.

Sacramento police reported that 13 spent shell casings and five live rounds were collected at the scene.

SPD stated that Rodriguez was arrested on shooting, firearm and narcotics-related charges.

No injuries were reported.
