San Francisco has experienced several rainy weeks lately, with frequent rainstorms beginning in December and continuing through January and February. SF saw several days of rain last week, and the stormy weather will continue into next week.
The National Weather Service is forecasting rain through Thursday night. Monday and Tuesday during the day have a 100% chance of rain, with an 80% chance of rain on Wednesday. You can expect the highs to be in the mid-50s, and the lows in the mid-40s at night. On Thursday, the forecast states rain is likely mostly before 10 am, and starting on Friday through the end of the weekend, there is only a chance of rain. Friday and Saturday are predicted to be partly sunny, offering a break from the rain.
The Bay Area is also under a coastal flood advisory until 3 pm on Tuesday. The NWS is forecasting 1 to 1.5 feet of inundation, meaning flooding is possible in low-lying areas. Flooding is only expected to be minor in low-lying areas. Additionally, there are wind and winter weather advisories south of San Francisco for Monterey and San Benito Counties.
While the rainy weather can seem gloomy, there are still plenty of great things to do in San Francisco on a rainy day. You can visit a local museum, such as SFMOMA or the Legion of Honor, which regularly showcases incredible exhibitions. If you want something active, you can go rollerskating in an old church or play pickleball at a free indoor court. Check out our guide for things to do on a rainy day here.
