As a safety precaution, Los Angeles Public Works announced Monday that it will implement mountain road closures and advised drivers to prepare due to the incoming storm.
The first and heaviest amount of rain is expected to fall Monday during the late morning and early afternoon.
The storm could bring a chance for flooding as well as mud and debris flow in the burn scar areas of LA.
Starting Monday at 10 a.m., LA County Public Works will close the following roads:
Angeles Forest Highway, from Aliso Canyon Road to Highway 2
Big Tujunga Canyon Road, from Angeles Forest Highway to Vogel Flat Road
Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road, from Angeles Forest Highway to Angeles Crest Highway
The closures will remain in effect until the rainfall subsides and crews can safely clear debris and restore roadway conditions for public use, LA County Public Works said.
During the storm, drivers are advised to:
Plan ahead
Use alternate routes
Avoid traveling during periods of heavy rain
Heed all posted signs signage and instructions from public safety personnel
To report any flooding, debris or road hazards, drivers can contact LA County Public Works 24/7 dispatch at 1-800-675-HELP (4357).
