Voice of San Diego’s 2026 Parent’s Guide to San Diego Schools is here.
The annual guide, available in Spanish, is the most authoritative resource on education options in San Diego County.
Voice of San Diego breaks down how school-choice guidelines — for district or charter schools — work, and when their enrollment deadlines hit, outlines options for after-care programs and provides an easy-to-use dashboard for performance data across schools.
There is mountain of data on each of the county’s more than 720 public schools, on everything from enrollment to chronic absenteeism and graduation rates. But Voice also analyzed test scores while controlling for family income, to show how effective schools actually are at educating kids. For the first time this year, they’ve included some private school information in the guide.
Voice reporters also put together a handful of accompanying articles for this year’s guide, too:
Print copies of the guide are available for free at public libraries, preschools and social service providers around the county.
Voice of San Diego’s journalists will host events throughout the year to explain the guide and answer community questions. There first workshop is scheduled now:
Monday, March 2 at 4:30pm, 320 N. Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025 (Children’s Museum of Discovery).
