BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A topic circulating on TikTok is drawing attention locally, as several people claim they’ve had “unprofessional” encounters with a Bakersfield 911 operator.
Eyewitness News has received multiple emails from viewers alerting us to videos going viral on the social media platform.
In the videos, individuals describe what they say were “rude” or “ignored” interactions when calling 911 in Bakersfield.
Several TikTok users claim they experienced similar behavior from who they believe is the same operator.
One woman said she has called 911 three times in her life and believes each call was answered by the same person, based on the voice and tone.
Some social media users have publicly named a specific operator. However, Eyewitness News is not releasing that name, as the identity has not been confirmed by the Bakersfield Police Department.
We reached out to BPD for comment. A spokesperson tells Eyewitness News the department is aware of the concerns and plans to provide more information on Tuesday.
It is unclear at this time how many complaints have been formally filed.
We will update this story as soon as we receive additional details from BPD.
