BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The first of a series of storms is bringing rain to parts of the Central Valley including Kern County on Monday.
Rain fell overnight and in the early morning hours. Steady rain has fallen throughout Kern County and multiple crashes have been reported along roads throughout the morning, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information Page.

Even with the rain and some snow, all major highways remain open — Highway 58, Highway 99 and Interstate 5 are all open as of 1:30 p.m. Monday. Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution along roads throughout the day.
Light snow was reported falling at the summit of the Grapevine and in the Frazier Park area at around 12:45 p.m., according to CHP.

Multiple collisions and other incidents have been reported along the major highways but none have prompted closures.
Road closures
Mil Potrero Highway from the Y to Pine Mountain Club is closed because of ice and snow, CHP said.
Bear Valley Springs officials said 4-wheel drive and/or chains are required on all upper roads because of snow and ice.
Motorists are urged to keep a safe distance between vehicles on the road to give yourself time to brake if needed.
