A man was shot and killed overnight after witnesses reported hearing six to eight gunshots in a Lynwood neighborhood.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Homicide Bureau Lt. Daniel Vizcarra told NBC Los Angeles that the shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. along the 11800 block of State Street.

The victim suffered a wound to his upper body and died at the scene; his name was not released. There were no other victims.

Lt. Vizcarra said witnesses reported seeing several cars fleeing the area right after the shooting, but as of Monday afternoon, there was no information about a potential suspect or suspects.

The investigation is ongoing. The lieutenant said anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
