A red carpet was rolled out for those with wrinkles, fur, tails and paws both big and small this weekend.

Accompanied by their human companions, dogs walked the carpet during the 21st annual National Bulldog Beauty Contest, which took place Sunday, Feb. 15, at Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach.

This year’s event once again brought together dog owners from across Southern California and beyond to appreciate the beauty of their four-legged friends.

The stubby and wrinkly features of English bulldogs and French bulldogs were on full display. Smiles could be seen on the faces of spectators and bulldogs alike.

Besides the bulldog contests, there were 11 other categories in which all breeds could participate, including best tail, best senior dog, best siblings, best in show, best adopted/rescued dogs, most handsome and prettiest.

The event was hosted by Long Beach local Justin Rudd and his Community Action Team, which organizes various events, including monthly beach cleanups, the Interfaith Blessing of the Animals and more.
