Sacramento police are searching for suspects after seven local businesses were burglarized within roughly 24 hours, starting early Friday morning and continuing into Saturday.”There was a team, really organized, they had a hammer, there was like multiple guys working at it,” said Rebecca Hidalgo, owner of Sac City Brew.Surveillance video shows the moments a group of suspects broke into Sac City Brew early Saturday morning. Hidalgo woke up to the alarm and watched as masked burglars took the cash drawer, damaged office equipment, and left in a blue sedan, resulting in nearly $1,500 in damages. The burglars took rolls of quarters.”We don’t know what use you have for an empty cash drawer that has the key in it, I mean, there was $10 and rolls of quarters that we leave because we just don’t lock that up at night,” Hidalgo said.Milano’s Pizza next door experienced a similar incident, with security cameras capturing the same suspects leaving with nearly $100 in cash. The owner is now facing costs to replace the door and register, estimated between $1,500 and $1,600.Sacramento police reported that seven businesses were targeted across the Curtis Park, Land Park, and Tahoe Park areas in all. Bacon and Butter was the first reported victim around 4 a.m. Friday. The other businesses include Happy Takeout, Tasty Dumpling in Crocker Village, Oscar’s Very Mexican Food on Freeport Boulevard, and Pangaea Bier Cafe.Sacramento police have not been able to confirm if all of these break-ins are connected and have not released any suspect information. As police continue their search for the suspects, businesses like Sac City Brew will now be a cashless business in hopes of dissuading any further attempts to break inside. “We’ve tried so hard to create this beautiful space, and so then to have it, you know, broken into or like just violated in any way just feels it feels like personal,” Hidalgo said. In that case, burglars forced open a rear door and made off with a safe, bottles of alcohol and some money, the store’s owner said. Surveillance footage showed a person dressed all in black walking through the kitchen after 1:30 a.m. Owner Lou Dedier said he wanted restaurant owners outside of the city of Sacramento to be on guard.
