A powerful winter storm is sweeping through Southern California Monday, bringing heavy rain, strong winds and snow.

While the wet conditions caused a traffic headache for many, a man in Long Beach had a bit of fun with the heavy flooding on the streets.

Video shared with KTLA shows Hayden de León surfing “all around the streets of the 90815 area,” towed by a vehicle. “We’re going to surf!” he yelled before hopping on his board.

De León told KTLA that, while this is his first time street surfing in a few years, he used to do it all the time as a kid.

“It was a blast,” he said. “I grew up wakeboarding, surfing, snowboarding… so this just fit right into the abundance of fun you can have out here in Southern California.”

Storm drains were overwhelmed across Los Angeles County on Monday amid torrential downpours, flooding streets and submerging vehicles in Long Beach, Burbank, Hollywood, North Hollywood and other areas.

At least one person was rescued after their car stalled in Sawtelle.

A Flash Flood Warning continued in parts of Los Angeles County until 5 p.m.
