Should street surfing become the next Olympic sport? One Long Beach man seems to think so.
During Monday’s storm, the streets of Long Beach filled with water and flooded in some areas.
De Leon didn’t want to let that moment pass and decided he wanted to surf.
“I told my brother, I said ‘Dude, put that truck in first gear, let’s go,’” de Leon tells NBCLA.
The truck was slowly driving through residential streets as De Leon held onto a rope, surfing through the flooded streets.
De Leon said he did wear a helmet in some of the “sketchier parts of the surf” but added that the waves were good.
