BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified a driver killed after a solo-vehicle rollover crash at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park as 28-year-old Carlos Emilio Ramirez Jr.
The report said on February 15, 2026, at around 10:24 a.m., Ramirez Jr. was driving when he was involved in a solo-vehicle rollover at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park.
He died at the scene from his injuries.
A spokesperson with the Buttonwillow Raceway Park has provided a statement to Eyewitness News stating:
We are deeply saddened by the loss of a member of the on-site fire and rescue team during an incident on Sunday at Buttonwillow Raceway Park.The individual was an employee of Advanced Fire and Rescue Services, the official safety team for car events at Buttonwillow Raceway.The incident involved a single Fire/Rescue safety vehicle responding on track. No other vehicles were involved.Another crew member was transported for medical care and is recovering.Buttonwillow Raceway, in conjunction with Advanced Fire and Rescue Services are cooperating fully with OSHA and the appropriate authorities as they complete their review.Comment with Bubbles
