OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A 19-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a homicide, after his body was found at a boat launch earlier this week.

The victim was found with a gunshot wound, and the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled that injury as the cause of death.

The body was found in Commerce Township near the Proud Lake boat launch on Wixom Road.

The sheriff’s office is now investigating this case a s a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Inkster man Andre Sontay Avant Jr.

“This was a brutal and senseless homicide that has left a family and community searching for answers,” Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “We are committed to pursuing justice for this individual and holding every person involved fully accountable. We need the public’s help — if you saw anything suspicious in the area or have any information, no matter how small it may seem, please come forward. There is a reward being offered, and your information could be the key to bringing those responsible to justice.”
