CULVER CITY, CA — One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting at the Westfield Culver City parking lot on Friday.
Officers responded to multiple calls regarding gunshots in the north parking lot of the mall off Sepulveda Boulevard at around 7:25 p.m. Friday. Upon arrival, police found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Culver City Police Department.
“Officers immediately provided life-saving measures, and the patient was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead,” police said.
The victim was identified on Tuesday as Angel Torres, 25, of Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
Officers from two other nearby police departments responded to assist in the search for two male suspects believed to be involved in the incident, police said.
“A drone was deployed to assist in the search, and Sepulveda Boulevard between Berryman Avenue and Centinela Avenue was temporarily closed to vehicle traffic. Police activity in the area concluded just before 7 a.m.,” police said.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the parking lot at around 7:20 p.m. Two men, including Torres, were struck, according to police.
A second man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was later located at a local hospital, police said.
Two firearms were recovered from the scene, police said.
The incident is under investigation.
