(FOX40.COM) — A Bakersfield man has been sentenced to five years for manufacturing methamphetamine and possessing 50 pounds of dynamite — explosives he kept hidden in an underground cave.

Matthew Henry Jacober, 44, was sentenced for being a felon in possession of explosives and for manufacturing crystal methamphetamine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California announced.

Authorities said Jacober had 50 pounds of dynamite hidden underground, about 10 to 15 feet from his travel trailer, in July 2025.

Jacober was convicted in 2021 of making a destructive device without a permit — a felony — preventing him from possessing explosives in the future.

Jacober was also found to be in the process of manufacturing crystalline methamphetamine in his trailer.

He pleaded guilty in November 2025.
