US professional services company Cherry Bekaert has acquired Los Angeles-based public accounting and advisory practice Richardson Kontogouris Emerson (RKE) for an undisclosed sum.
The deal expands Cherry Bekaert footprint in the West Coast region.
RKE, established in 2006, provides services spanning accounting, tax, finance-related advisory, litigation support and strategic planning.
The company is known for working with mid-sized businesses and their owners across sectors such as manufacturing and consumer products, property and real estate, construction, and food and beverage.
Cherry Bekaert said the transaction will allow it to bring a wider range of resources and capabilities to RKE’s existing clients, while reinforcing its focus on middle-market companies, business founders and private investors in the region.
RKE managing partner Christian Emerson added: “Joining Cherry Bekaert opens new doors for our clients and team.
“This strategic partnership gives our clients access to broader resources – from specialised advisory to advanced technology – while continuing to work with the valued RKE professionals they know and trust.”
Under the structure of the deal, Cherry Bekaert Advisory will assume ownership of all assets connected to RKE’s business advisory, tax and other non-attest lines, while Cherry Bekaert will take over the attest-related assets.
Following completion, RKE will be absorbed into Cherry Bekaert’s operations and will trade under the Cherry Bekaert name.
Cherry Bekaert Advisory CEO Michelle Thompson said: “This acquisition marks an exciting step in our firm’s growth strategy. RKE’s strong presence in Los Angeles and its commitment to client service align perfectly with our values.
“Together, we will deliver enhanced value to clients by combining RKE’s local relationships with Cherry Bekaert’s national scale and expanding our reach in the Western US.”
“Cherry Bekaert buys Los Angeles-based RKE to bolster West Coast reach” was originally created and published by International Accounting Bulletin, a GlobalData owned brand.
