LA MESA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — There’s been some buzz going around La Mesa about the city possibly getting its first In-N-Out location.
Grecia Aguilar, a communications manager with the city, confirmed that the proposal for an In-N-Out at 8690 Center Dr. has been submitted for review.
The location would sit on the corner of Grossmont Center Drive and Center Drive in an area that already sees heavy traffic from the Grossmont Center Mall, Sharp Grossmont Hospital and the transit station nearby.
Grecia said that the project is still in the review phase, and once the fast-food chain’s application is complete, it will be scheduled for consideration by the city’s Design Review Board and Planning Commission.
After that, the City Council will review it.
The proposal is currently listed on the city’s website under the Projects Under Review page, which Grecia said is where all active development projects are listed.
She also said that, in addition to public notices for city meetings, notices are mailed to residents within a 300-foot radius of the site and published in a local newspaper at least 10 days before the Planning Commission meeting, so neighbors can prepare their feedback.
There are currently more than a dozen In-N-Out locations in San Diego, with the closest to the proposed site in La Mesa being in Lemon Grove, about four miles away.
There is currently no timeline for when the new In-N-Out could be constructed, so La Mesa residents will have to travel down the road to get their burger fix for now.
