SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A man accused of an attempted bank robbery in San Francisco’s Financial District last week was arrested the following day after allegedly threatening employees of a separate business, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

On February 12, the suspect, later identified as 44-year-old Carlos Benitez, entered a bank on the 300 block of California Street and demanded money, authorities said. After being denied by the employee, Benitez fled the area.

Benitez was not immediately located despite his description being sent out to all SFPD officers.

The next day, Benitez allegedly entered a business on Montgomery Street and threatened the staff before leaving the area. The employees provided authorities with an image of the suspect, and officers recognized the man as the person wanted in the attempted bank robbery.

Benitez was later located on Fourth Street and arrested. He was booked into the San Francisco County Jail for attempted second-degree robbery.
