Merely pages apart in the Feb. 7 San Diego Union-Tribune are the articles “Delay on Purple Line rail route is indefensible” and “San Diego County’s GDP up to $267B in 2024.”  The latter article notes that Sorrento Valley is more important to our region than downtown San Diego. I always questioned why the Blue Line originally did not go to Sorrento Valley rather than UTC. The distance from San Ysidro to Sorrento Valley is 29 miles. The distance as the crow flies from UC San Diego Health trolley stop to Sorrento Valley transit station is 1.4 miles. SANDAG should figure out a “purple” trolley connection from UC San Diego Health trolley to Sorrento Valley transit station rather than an additional 27 miles of costs from San Ysidro. Whistleblowers get 15% of savings; I just ask for my 2%.
