A search is underway after a person was swept away from their vehicle by rising floodwaters in San Bernardino County.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department said early Wednesday that the incident began around 11:23 p.m. Tuesday when deputies responded to the intersection of Keenbrook Road and Cajon Boulevard in Devore for reports of a vehicle trying to navigate through floodwaters.

“The sole occupant of the vehicle was found on the roof of the full size pick up truck surrounded by active water,” SBCoFD said. “While rescue crews were accessing the scene, the victim was swept away as the vehicle shifted.”

As of early Wednesday morning, an active search for the person was still ongoing.

No description of their identity was released.
