In the last 30 years, the San Joaquin River Conservancy has worked to reclaim more than 3,000 acres of land for public use.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The City of Fresno has received $2 million in federal funding to support improvements along the San Joaquin River.

The investment will help advance projects that expand public access, enhance recreation, and protect natural resources along the 25-mile-long parkway.

That includes expansion of the popular Lewis Eaton Trail through Woodward Park.

Valley Congressman Jim Costa made the announcement on Tuesday against the backdrop of falling rain, wind and overcast skies.

“Working with the City of Fresno, this investment will create multiple ADA-accessible entry points so that people of all abilities can enjoy the parkway,” he said.
