FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A firefighter was sent to the hospital while trying to stop a motel fire on Sunday.

Firefighters received a report of a fire at an abandoned motel on South G Street, a bit after 9:30 p.m.

As firefighters were suppressing the fire on the upper floor, a firefighter fell through a hole and broke his leg.

He was transported to a nearby hospital.

The fire was contained, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters responded to another fire around Calaveras Street and McKenzie Avenue.

When they arrived, they noticed smoke and flames coming from a detached structure from the home.

They were able to stop the fire from spreading.

The fire is still under investigation.
