BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police and other agencies cleared 17 encampments in southwest Bakersfield last week near a railroad property, said the Bakersfield Police Department. In total, 190 cubic yards of trash were removed from the encampments.

On Feb. 11, the Bakersfield Police Department Impact Team and Community Vitality Unit, Bakersfield Fire Department (Arson Division), Bakersfield Animal Control, and Bakersfield Code Enforcement collaborated to enforce trespassing violations in the operation.

Officers arrested 12 people, cited two people, seized two animals, and placed three people at the Brundage Lane Navigation Center. Three dogs were also accepted at the Navigation Center with their owners.
