A man who snuck into a Linda Vista home and sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl inside the residence pleaded guilty this week.

Alejandro Jose Confesor faces up to 25 years if convicted. NBC 7’s Dana Williams reports on April 24, 2024.

Alejandro Jose Confesor, 24, is expected to be sentenced next month to more than 40 years in state prison for the April 18, 2024, assault, which took place inside a Wellington Street home.

Tanya Sierra, a spokeswoman for the county DA’s office, told NBC 7 on Wednesday that Confesor pleaded guilty Tuesday to four counts of “PC288(b)(1), molest under duress, menace and fear; and one count of PC311.11(A), possession of child pornography.:

According to testimony from a preliminary hearing held last year, Confesor entered the home at around 1:45 a.m. and sexually abused the child in her bedroom. He then returned to the same home three days later at around 3:30 a.m. and took items from the home’s garage, according to testimony. San Diego police say video surveillance captured Confesor returning to the home.

Prosecutors say Confesor has no relationship to the home’s residents.

He was arrested on the night of April 21 on Linda Vista Road, less than two miles from the Wellington Street address. After his arrest, police found he had items stolen from the home where the girl was molested, according to testimony.

SDPD said the man returned to the home days after the sexual assault.

Confesor also allegedly had a picture on his cell phone of the inside of another nearby home, and his fingerprints were lifted from an unlocked vehicle in the neighborhood, which prosecutors allege he entered and stole cash from.

Prior to his arrest, Confesor was a cook at a restaurant and resided in the same neighborhood where the assault took place, SDPD Lt. Michael Swanson said. He rented a space and lived with multiple roommates.

NBC 7 spoke with the victim’s father back in April, who said, “The family is doing ok. We’re grateful to our church and military families. They have been great and showing us a lot of love.”
