BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Police Department arrested 12 people last week after an encampment sweep near railroad property in southwest Bakersfield.

BPD was assisted by their impact team and community vitality unit. The arson division with Bakersfield Fire Department also assisted along with Bakersfield animal control and code enforcement.

BPD said the people were arrested under trespassing violations.

In total, 17 encampments were cleaned up, two citations were issued and two animals were seized during the sweep.

Three subjects and three dogs along with their owners were taken to the Brundage Navigation Center.

According to BPD, 190 cubic yards of trash were removed and hauled away in the sweep.
