A banner displayed outside Long Beach City Hall this week was intentionally placed as a statement of solidarity with immigrant families, according to the mayor’s office.
The banner, which hangs from a balcony at City Hall, follows a recent City Council action calling for accountability regarding federal enforcement tactics that city officials say have harmed communities like Long Beach.
“Yes, the banner drop was intentional,” the mayor’s communications office said in a statement. “This week, our City Council called for accountability for federal tactics that have caused harm in communities like ours.”
The mayor’s office said the message is a statement of solidarity.
“We stand with our immigrant families, and we believe public safety must be rooted in trust, not fear. Our work to ensure every family in Long Beach feels safe and protected will continue.”
City officials said the banner was not produced at taxpayer expense.
It is expected to remain in place for the next few days before being donated to a Long Beach community-based organization.
