SAN FRANCISCO – A man died after suffering a medical emergency Wednesday night at a San Francisco BART station, officials said.

The incident happened around 7:50 p.m. at the Civic Center station and triggered a major delay in the East Bay direction, according to BART spokesperson Chris Filippi. The San Francisco International Airport and Daly City directions were also affected.

The medical emergency did not involve a BART train, Filippi said, adding that foul play is also not suspected.

Service in the area was reduced to one track, but the station remained open, according to Filippi. Around 9:40 p.m., BART reported it was recovering from the incident.
