BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The winter storm caused several crashes, leading to escorts and exit closures on Intstate 5 and Highway 58 Wednesday morning.

Interstate 5:

The California Highway Patrol Fort Tejon said officers finished escorting traffic on the northbound lanes of the I-5.

The escorts came following a crash on Wednesday morning at around 5:41 a.m. between a semi-truck and a pickup truck on northbound I-5 in Gorman.

CHP said as of 9:09 a.m., escorts were stopped.

According to CHP, “Almost 90% of crashes in inclement weather are a result of driving too fast. Drive to arrive by simply slowing down.”

Highway 58:

Caltrans District 9 said Exit 151 off Highway 58 is closed due to stuck vehicles.

CHP Mojave said they are investigating a traffic crash involving a semi-truck on Highway 58, blocking the slow lane just west of Sand Canyon.
