The Olympics are in their most important games, but the San Jose Sharks have returned to practice for the first time since the break began.

Almost every player was accounted for at Sharks practice on Wednesday, but there are some missing players other than the ones at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky told reporters that he isn’t sure about the return timelines for the four in Milan.

Ty Dellandrea is still considered week-to-week, according to Warsofsky. The San Jose Sharks coach expects the forward back at some point this season, but he hasn’t returned to the ice. Dellandrea is dealing with a lower-body injury suffered against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Jan. 6.

Tyler Toffoli was also not present during practice. The veteran winger did skate on his own, according to the head coach, but has a minor lower-body injury. Warsofsky told reporters that Toffoli suffered the injury during the Sharks’ loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 4.

The other regular that was missing from the San Jose Sharks practice is defenseman Dmitry Orlov. The Sharks defenseman is healthy, but experienced “travel issues,” according to Warsofsky. The coach would confirm that Orlov is stuck in Lake Tahoe because of storms, after spending part of his break there on vacation.

Orlov is stuck in Tahoe. “Travel issues” per Warsofsky.

Sharks are pumped to be hockey fans again; thrilled about Celebrini’s success

It isn’t often that NHL players get to become true hockey fans. They are following the game, but are so game-focused on their own team, they can sometimes lose sight of the child-like fandom of the game they love. With NHL players returning for the Olympics, the San Jose Sharks have been loving the action.

“It’s been awesome as a fan,” Sharks forward Adam Gaudette told SHD. “It’s been great to have hockey games, men’s and women’s games to watch every day. Obviously, [I’m] cheering for the U.S., but I’m also cheering for [Celebrini] as well. It’s awesome to see him doing so well.”

Macklin Celebrini has put the hockey world on notice with his play at the Olympics. The Sharks superstar leads the tournament in goals with five and had three points in Canada’s 4-3 overtime win over Czechia in the quarter finals on Wednesday.

Celebrini opened the scoring for Team Canada and had the primary assist on Mitch Marner’s overtime winning goal.

Celebrini has been playing with Connor McDavid on Canada’s top line. Head coach Jon Cooper has loaded up the top line by adding Nathan MacKinnon to the duo.

“It’s crazy. We were joking earlier that Mack is going to come back here and not want to play with any of us now. But, man, the speed on that line and the skill, it’s ridiculous,” Gaudette joked. “As a fan, it’s so much fun to watch. You catch yourself just wishing you could do at least half of the things that they do. I think it’s been a great tournament so far. And it would be really cool to see a Canada-US final.”

Celebrini’s best friend, Will Smith, didn’t have any doubt that Celebrini would make an impact for Team Canada.

“Their team is obviously pretty loaded, so him getting to play with those guys is super cool for him, and he’s obviously doing a great job,” Smith said. “I wasn’t surprised. I think they obviously were bringing him there for a reason. He’s been playing great. I think they definitely made a good decision.”

Smith himself has goals of making the next best-on-best Team USA roster.

“Every time I play for the U.S., it’s been such an honor,” Smith said. “You always want to do it again. Those are teams you’re striving to be on, and you always want to play for your country.”

The San Jose Sharks will continue to build up their legs and skate again for practice on Thursday.
