FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A local organization is celebrating its diamond anniversary by sharing stories of the Central Valley.

The Central Valley Community Foundation held its formal launch for its 60th anniversary activities.

The Foundation serves Fresno, Madera, Tulare, Kings, Merced and Mariposa counties, but supports local investments, nonprofits and charitable giving.

In honor of its 60th anniversary, the group created its “Stories That Shaped Us” series, featuring 60 pieces.

A docuseries will release a video each month for the celebration. The foundation hopes they can inspire people to get involved through donations of money or time.

“It’s just a call to action to pay attention to where you live,” said CEO Ashley Swearengin. “We are stewards of this place, and we can all get involved and make a difference, and make sure that what we leave behind for our kids and grandkids is actually a place that is inviting, thriving and see opportunity for the people that live here.”

Stories shared for the anniversary will profile leadership, dedication, and selflessness performed by community members, nonprofit leaders and donors.
