Los Angeles police are investigating a burglary and possible hate crime after a home belonging to a social media influencer was broken into on Valentine’s Day, the Los Angeles Police Department told NBC4 Investigates this week.
The San Fernando Valley home of Kristie Cook, who goes by the name Spill Sesh on Youtube, was burglarized during the afternoon hours last Saturday as thieves broke through the back wooden door of the property, the LAPD said.
After the burglars ransacked the house, they took off with a number of items, including a Buddha statue.
The sculpture was found smashed in her driveway. Although investigators are not certain whether the statue was intentionally destroyed, or burglars accidentally dropped it during their getaway, the LAPD is conducting a hate crimes investigation into the vandalism of the Buddhist representation.
Cook was not at home at the time of the burglary.
The total value of the items taken from Cook’s home was not immediately available.
No arrests were made as of Thursday.
NBC Los Angeles reached out to Cook’s representatives but did not hear back.
The Spill Sesh YouTube channel, which offers commentary videos on celebrity gossip and pop culture news, boasts more than 800,000 subscribers, attracting hundreds of thousands of viewers daily.
