A woman’s body washed up on a Peninsula beach this week, but homicide detectives do not suspect foul play, Long Beach police said.

At about 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, someone called 911 to report seeing a body that “appeared to have washed ashore” near 61st Place off East Ocean Boulevard, according to Long Beach police.

When officers arrived, they found a woman’s body “on the shoreline,” police said.

Homicide detectives responded but soon turned the scene over to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, which will determine how the woman died.

Authorities identified her as 40-year-old Mariah Miller. She was homeless, they said.
