A 32-year-old Bakersfield, California, man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday, February 19, 2026, on Interstate 70 in Cooper County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred at 1:50 a.m. in the westbound lanes at the 111-mile marker. A 2024 Freightliner traveled off the left side of the roadway, returned to the road, and overturned.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:25 a.m. by James Hurt.Â
The Freightliner was totaled and was towed by I70 Towing.
Troop F reported this was its second fatality for February and the fifth fatality of 2026.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by other troopers and commercial vehicle officers at the scene.
