SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Twin Rivers Unified School District employee has been arrested on suspicion of sexual misconduct.

The Sacramento Police Department said Elton Thomas was arrested on Oct. 17. The police said initially Thomas was released on bond but was remanded in court on Tuesday and is being held without bail.

“We are aware that an employee has been arrested by the Sacramento Police Department. The employee has been placed on leave. Based on information currently available, there is no indication that the arrest is connected to our district. This is an active law enforcement investigation,” The district said, in part, in a statement.

According to the Sacramento County Jail Log, Thomas is facing three felony sexual misconduct charges, including charges involving a victim under the age of 18. 

An investigation is ongoing.
