NEW YORK – The San Jose Sharks held an optional practice on Wednesday at the Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers.
While the skate wasn’t heavily attended, the Sharks who did skate enjoyed their time reliving their childhood.
“It was funny. First time walking into a rink like this,” San Jose Sharks defenseman Sam Dickinson said. “When we pulled off the bus, right away, you notice you’re on the harbor and you’re looking at boats in the water, it doesn’t really make sense for a rink to be there. It’s pretty cool.”
The Sharks have practiced at Chelsea Piers for a few years in a row during their road trip to New York. Last season, the team invited an adult hockey league goalie, Harold Robinson, onto the ice at the start of practice.

When the Sharks arrived at the rink today, Harold was there waiting for them with his custom jersey on.

Robinson will be in attendance when the Sharks visit the New York Rangers on Thursday.
Neither Dickinson nor Michael Misa has ever been to New York City. Misa and the rest of the Sharks team went to see The Book of Mormon on Broadway last Sunday. Ryan Reaves has seen the show seven times in his life.
But for the young Sharks duo, Wednesday afternoon and evening will be their time to explore the city.

“Today would be a good day to go see the city a little bit,” Misa said. “It’s a cool place, so I’ll definitely go explore a little bit tonight.”
“The obvious ones, like Times Square, Empire State Building,” Dickinson said. “Mike and I, the first night we got here, we were in one of those bike trolley things that take you around. We were on that for a little bit, getting a little bit of a tour.”
Something will have to give when the Sharks face the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. New York has only scored one goal on home ice this season, and is still searching for its first win at MSG.
While the San Jose Sharks look to avoid extending a losing streak to 18, dating back to last season, and earn their first win of 2025-26.
