BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Police Department launched an internal review after a viral TikTok alleged a 911 dispatcher acted unprofessionally. Police concluded that the 2021 call in question was handled with ”courteous and professional communication,” and released the audio for transparency.
The Bakersfield Police Department said on Monday, February 16th, 2026, we became aware of a TikTok video circulating online which was garnering widespread attention regarding allegations of unprofessional and discourteous behavior of a “Bakersfield 911 dispatcher.”

Police said that although they had not received any direct complaints, the department initiated an internal review in an effort to identify this event and assess the quality of our service.
After review, police confirmed the call referenced in the online post was made to their Communications Center on November 4th, 2021. The call consisted of an about 4 minute conversation with the call-taker who was obtaining pertinent details of the event from the caller. Three additional calls were made back to the caller by different call-takers to obtain additional details and coordinate contact with an officer.

In a release, police said, “In each of these calls, our call-takers provided courteous and professional communication consistent with the service expectations of our organization. We are releasing a copy of the recorded audio from this event in an effort to remain transparent and assure our community that we remain committed to our values and quality service.”

Police said they have made contact with the person who posted the original video as part of this review.

Police said, “We are also aware that several names of employees have been posted online as responsible for the call in question. None of these employees were involved with the actual call from 2021.”
