A 31-year-old San Jose man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a double homicide in Pleasanton, authorities said.

Allen Swadley was identified as the suspect in the killings, according to Pleasanton police. Authorities obtained a warrant for Swadley’s arrest and he was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into Santa Rita jail on two counts of murder.

Swadley’s victims were a mother and son: 67-year-old Lori Simonds and 28-year-old Evan Simonds, both of Pleasanton.

Police said that Swadley had recently been in a dating relationship with a family member of the victims, and authorities found multiple firearms in his vehicle and residence. Investigators are conducting further testing to see whether any of the weapons were used in the crime. 

“This outcome is the result of our detectives working nonstop on this case,” Police Chief Tracy Avelar said. “We appreciate the patience of our community as we worked through a rapidly evolving investigation, and I’m proud of the work done to keep the community safe.”
