At approximately 1:30am on February 21st, 2026, first responders were dispatched to Lakewood Boulevard south of Spring Street in Long Beach following reports of a single-vehicle crash into a pillar near the Long Beach Airport.
Preliminary information indicated the vehicle struck the pillar and caught fire, trapping occupants inside. Early reports confirmed at least three fatalities, with the possibility of up to five deceased victims. It was also reported that one individual may have been ejected during the crash.
Long Beach Police Department and Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and began their investigation.
