A fire early Saturday morning destroyed an abandoned apartment building in University Heights, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Fire crews said they received reports of a structure fire at the 4300 block of Georgia Street, shortly before 6 a.m. on Saturday.
The single story building was red tagged and boarded up, so it was unsafe for firefighters to enter, according to fire officials. Once they secured the location and made sure there was no one inside, they surrounded the building with a hose line.
No one was injured and no other damages to surrounding buildings were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
