LOS ANGELES, CA — Two people suffered minor smoke inhalation Saturday, but no one was seriously injured when a fire broke out at a six-story Donwtown Los Angeles hotel.

The blaze broke out near the Toy District shortly before noon at 121 E. Fifth Street, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz.

“Firefighters discovered fire in one second-floor unit, held in check by sprinklers,” Lantz said.

Crews were able to put down the fire by 12:10 p.m., but the intersection at 5th Street and Main Street remaned closed for some time.

Los Angeles Fire Department arson investigators were called to the scene.
