A man was taken into custody Saturday in Fresno on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.

Officers responded just after 5 p.m. to the area of Thomas Avenue and First Street following reports of a hit-and-run crash.

Fresno Police said the suspect’s vehicle became inoperable and stopped further down the block.

Officers detained the 28-year-old driver and determined he was over the legal blood alcohol limit.

During the investigation, authorities learned the suspect had struck four unoccupied parked vehicles between Belmont Avenue and Third Street, and Thomas Avenue and First Street.

The suspect was cited and later released at the scene to immediate family members, police said.
