Fire Sunday damaged a three-story residential/commercial structure in San Pedro, authorities said.
Firefighters dispatched at 4:58 a.m. to 615 S. Centre St. had the blaze knocked down within 60 minutes of their arrival, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
Fire was discovered running in the ceiling between the first and second floors, said Lyndsey Lantz of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“Approximately 22 residents remain evacuated from the building while firefighters ensure the void space between the first and second floors is clear of fire,” Lantz said. “No injuries reported.”
The Red Cross has been summoned to assist displaced occupants.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
