USA! USA! Jack Hughes scored the overtime winning goal as Team USA beat Team Canada 2-1 for the gold medal.

Connor Hellebuyck was standing on his head as Team Canada went wave after wave of attack. Canada outshot the USA 42-28. San Jose Sharks superstar Macklin Celebrini tied Nathan MacKinnon for the game-high in shots with six. Celebrini had multiple grade A chances in the third period, including on a late third-period power-play.

Hellebuyck made multiple breakaway saves, including on Celebrini, as well as one incredible stick save on Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews.

A silver medal is not a gold, and will likely leave Celebrini hungrier for more, but the 19-year-old had an incredible tournament. In six games, the San Jose Sharks centerman had five goals and five assists. The Sharks forward was also named to the Milan Olympic All-Star team as one of the best six players, including goalies.

Matt Boldy scored the other goal for Team USA, helping them earn the third gold medal in the nation’s Men’s hockey history.

Team USA’s gold medal is the first in 46 years. The Miracle on Ice game was on February 22, 1980.

Now, Celebrini will return to the San Jose Sharks this week as the push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs begins.
