Marusya Madubuko, a dancer with the Alonzo King LINES Ballet in San Francisco, will speak and perform at Marin libraries this week.

Madubuko will appear at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fairfax Library at 2097 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in Fairfax; 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Civic Center Library at 3501 Civic Center Drive, room 427, in San Rafael; and 11 a.m. Saturday at the Novato Library at 1720 Novato Drive in Novato. She will also teach a ballet class for kids ages 8 to 12 at Marin City Arts and Culture at 100 Donahue St. in Sausalito. Registration is required for the class; go to marinlibrary.org.

The event series is part of Marin County Free Library’s “Strength Through Grace: Celebrating Black Heritage” program for Black History Month, which highlights the achievements of African Americans in the ballet world. The series also includes a screening of “A Ballerina’s Tale” — a documentary about Misty Copeland, the American Ballet Theatre’s first Black principal dancer — at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Corte Madera Library at 707 Meadowsweet Drive in Corte Madera.

At her three library appearances, Madubuko will discuss her journey through dance before performing an excerpt from a ballet by Alonzo King, the dancer and choreographer who founded the LINES Ballet in 1982.

All events in the series are free. Go to marinlibrary.org.
