Notes and expectations

This game and series carries weight for the Wranglers. Their last meeting with San Jose was a few weeks ago on Jan. 30 and 31. These games resulted in 5-1 and 7-2 final scores that really caused the team to rethink some strategies and mentalities at this point in the season. The last couple of games have really shown growth in this squad and contributions down the lineup instead of leaving the workload for a handful of guys. Part of what worked in Bakersfield was contributions by the defencemen.

Hunter Brzustewicz had a scrap around the midway mark of the game to stand up for a hit on Sam Morton then his d-partner, Turner Ottenbreit scored a shorthanded goal late in the second period and Daniil Miromanov went on to score the game-winning goal in overtime along with secondary assists on two other key goals on the night.  Ottenbreit said after their win on Friday, it’s been a long time coming. He said,

“Anytime you can get one, it feels good, you know what I mean? It doesn’t matter what your role is; it feels good.”

Every goal on Friday came from a different player and between that and two road wins, the team is fired up for more in San Jose. Ottenbreit talked about the Barracuda after the Condors win and said,

“They’re a really good team. Obviously, they play well. They play tight. We just got to keep going good tonight. We played a good game tonight and we need to keep it going into tomorrow.”

The Wranglers play an hour earlier on Saturday night with their game getting going at 7:00 p.m. MT. Streaming options are available for a fee on Flo Hockey or you can follow along with away radio broadcast on the Fan960.
