SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KOLO) – On Sunday, Feb. 22, the California Democratic Party voted to officially endorse State Sen. Mike McGuire for Congress in the First Congressional District, which includes Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, and Tehama counties and most of Yuba County.
“The highest calling in my life is to help others – to fight for those who can’t fight for themselves,” McGuire said. “I’ll go to the mat every day to make life more affordable, to grow our economy, to protect your healthcare, and to stand up to Donald Trump.”
In the district, McGuire is the only candidate with the Democratic Party’s endorsement.
“When California Democrats stand together and deliver for working families and rural communities, we win,” McGuire said. “We defeated Donald Trump when we passed Prop 50 (redistricting). We defeated Donald Trump in court over and over. And this November, California Democrats, standing together, are going to finally Flip The First Congressional District” from Republican to Democrat.
In addition to the California Democratic Party, dozens of national, state, local officials, unions, and organizations, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Se. Adam Schiff, Sen. Alex Padilla, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Mike Thompson, Rep. Jared Huffman, and every Democratic supervisor in the district endorse McGuire’s campaign.
“Because you deserve a representative who will fight as hard for you as you fight for your family,” McGuire said. “I would be honored to earn your support.”
