38,000-square-foot store will mark company’s 10th Southern California location.
Culver City will soon have its first IKEA store within its city limits, and the first on the Westside of Los Angeles, the retailer announced Wednesday as part of its annual business update. There is a pick-up location in Santa Monica, but there’s not a store closer than 20 miles away.Â
The Swedish home furnishings company said it plans to open IKEA Culver City in spring 2026, marking its 10th customer location in Southern California. The new store will be situated in the Helms Design District at 3225-A Helms Ave., in a 38,050-square-foot space previously occupied by the HD Buttercup Design Center.
IKEA said the Culver City site is part of its broader expansion strategy in the region, bringing its products and services closer to customers on the Westside.
The Helms Design District shopping center has lost two other major tenants within the last year including the revived Helms Bakery and Lustig restaurant, so the news that a major retailer plans on opening a store is welcome to those who frequent the shopping and dining area.
