(FOX40.COM) — A man was killed on Sunday night after being struck by two vehicles in East Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP said the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. when a vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk. A short time later, a second vehicle also struck the pedestrian.

CHP reported that fire personnel pronounced the man dead at 8:44 p.m.

Both drivers remained at the scene and are fully cooperating with the investigation, officials said. Investigators determined that neither speed nor alcohol nor drugs were factors in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
